New Financial Support for Ukrainian Pensioners
Starting in 2026, the Pension Fund of Ukraine will introduce a monthly supplement of UAH 1,038 for single pensioners aged 80 or older who require constant care. This amount equals 40% of the projected subsistence minimum of UAH 2,595 for that year. Eligible individuals must submit a formal application to receive the benefit.
Only those receiving old-age pensions—not disability pensions—qualify for this payment. Additionally, applicants must have no able-bodied relatives legally obligated to support them. A key requirement is a medical certificate confirming the need for ongoing care.
Required Documents for the Supplement
To apply, pensioners need to prepare the following documents:
- Application form
- Passport
- Tax identification code
- Medical certificate
It is important to note that this supplement is not issued automatically; filing an application is mandatory.
Separately, standard age-based bonuses continue for all pensioners aged 70 and over. Those between 70 and 74 receive UAH 300 per month, those aged 75 to 79 get UAH 456, and individuals 80 or older receive UAH 570 monthly. However, these bonuses only apply if the total pension does not exceed UAH 10,340.35. They do not stack—when a pensioner moves to a higher age bracket, the previous bonus is replaced by the larger one.
These measures aim to provide extra financial relief for elderly citizens, particularly the most vulnerable. The new supplement for single seniors over 80 underscores the government's focus on supporting those who live alone and need constant assistance. For many, this additional income could help cover care costs and everyday expenses, improving their quality of life.
In addition to the new monthly supplement for seniors over 80, it's essential to understand the existing age-based bonuses available to pensioners aged 70 and above. These financial aids play a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of elderly citizens.
