Age Supplements for Ukrainian Pensions

According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ukrainian Pension Fund provides automatic age-related supplements to the basic pension for individuals who reach the ages of 70, 75, and 80. These payments are added regardless of the type of pension a person receives. However, errors in the pension registry can sometimes prevent the supplements from being paid, so verification is advised.

Supplement Amounts by Age

The amount of the supplement varies depending on the pensioner's age:

  • Upon reaching 70 years, the supplement is 300 hryvnias.
  • For 75-year-olds, the total supplement is 456 hryvnias. Since this includes the 300 hryvnias already received at age 70, the actual increase at this stage is 156 hryvnias.
  • For those who reach 80, the total supplement is 570 hryvnias, representing a net increase of 114 hryvnias from the previous amount.

These supplements are applied automatically from the day the relevant age is reached. Pensioners should still check their payments, as registry mistakes can delay receipt. Verification can be done through the 'Diia' online portal or via the personal account on the Pension Fund of Ukraine's website. Understanding these supplements is crucial for retirees managing their finances in a challenging economic environment.

It is also noted that, as of March 1, 2026, the government has indexed pensions by a factor of 1.121 (or 12.1%).

Therefore, it is vital for pensioners to be aware of their entitlement to age supplements and to verify their presence to avoid potential financial shortfalls.

Given the automatic nature of the payments, actively checking the status of one's benefits can significantly impact the financial security of the elderly, especially in times of economic instability.
