In the Zaporizhzhia region, a locust invasion has begun, which was initially discovered in the territory of the Kushuhum community, and has now covered Zaporizhzhia. Locusts can be seen everywhere - in backyards, gardens, and even houses. Local residents are actively sharing videos from all corners of the city showcasing clouds of these insects.

According to information from sprz.city, this is the first such massive locust invasion in decades. The clouds of locusts arrived from the dried territory of the Kakhovka Reservoir. Specialists explain that the cause of the pest's appearance is the dry years and the insufficient processing of soils due to the military conflict.

According to specialists, the cause of the outbreak was the dry years and the lack of soil processing, particularly due to the war.

In such conditions, locusts reproduce quickly and migrate over long distances, particularly spreading rapidly in untreated areas. In other words, it poses a significant threat to agricultural crops.

It is worth noting that locusts eat leaves, stems, and flowers of plants. The mass migration of insects can lead to complete crop loss, which can range from 25 to 100 percent. Locusts can quickly fly over long distances, especially in windy weather.

Recently, locusts were also spotted in the village of Kushuhum in the Zaporizhzhia region. Besides mass treatment of gardens, there are currently no other means of protection against locusts.

We remind you that in case of detecting locust outbreaks, it is necessary to report this to the State Consumer Service and conduct treatment of crops and lands, following the regulations for the use of plant protection products.

A large-scale locust invasion is taking place in Zaporizhzhia, negatively impacting plant cultures. The cause of this has been the dry years and insufficient soil processing due to the military conflict. Local specialists are calling for necessary measures to prevent further spread of the insects and losses in agriculture.
