Global Tourism Expansion

According to the latest OECD Tourism Trends and Policies 2026 report, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Egypt recorded the strongest tourism growth between 2019 and 2025. Saudi Arabia claimed first place with an impressive 67% increase, driven by its Vision 2030 national program—featuring visa simplifications, expanded air routes, and investments in cultural sites. Morocco ranked second with a 53% rise, while Egypt took third at 47% growth.

European nations also posted positive figures. Norway came in fourth with a 28% gain, followed by Serbia at 27% and Denmark at 22%. Portugal and Spain saw tourism flows increase by 20% and 16%, respectively. Japan, which entered the top ten, placed sixth with a 34% surge, partly due to a weaker yen. The report, released in 2026, captures the post-pandemic recovery and shifting traveler preferences worldwide.
