The Ukrainian national football team has moved up eight places in the latest world ranking compiled by FIFA, the international football governing body. The Ukrainian team is now ranked 27th among fifty national teams worldwide.
The FIFA ranking, released on July 9, uses match statistics from the past four years to determine a team's standing, taking into account average points earned in matches over the past 12 months and average points accumulated in earlier matches.

The ranking compilers did not name the winners of the 2014 World Cup, the German team, which is positioned at second place. The top position was given to Argentina. Belgium, the Netherlands, and Colombia round out the top five, while Spain and Uruguay have dropped out of the top 10.
Ukraine currently surpasses Russia, Poland, and the USA, after a whole year, including victories in friendly matches against Moldova and Georgia. Teams from the Ukrainian Premier League also had a successful season, with 'Dnipro' even reaching the final of the European Championship for the first time in the club's history.
Now, the team must turn its attention to the Euro-2016 qualifying matches, which will begin in September. Ukraine is currently in third place in Group C after four wins and two losses. Slovakia (15th) leads the group, with Spain (12th) in second place. Belarus (100th), Macedonia (105th), and Luxembourg (146th) round out the group.
