Ukrainian Forces Strike Russian FPV Drone Facilities and Military Sites in Rostov and Perm Regions

Українські військові завдають ударів по об'єктам російських дронів та військовим базам у Ростовській та Пермській областях.

Security Service of Ukraine Launches Targeted Strike

In the early hours of September 12, 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in coordination with the Ukrainian Defense Forces, executed a precision operation near Taganrog in Russia's Rostov region. This mission successfully destroyed several key targets, including:

  • an FPV drone manufacturing facility;
  • two UAV storage warehouses;
  • a Pantsir-S2 surface-to-air missile and gun system;
  • a fuel storage tank;
  • and a P-18 Terek radar station.

All affected locations were reported to be engulfed in fires following the strikes.

President Zelensky Details Wider Impact

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed further outcomes of the operation, highlighting the destruction of two chemical industry plants located in Russia's Perm and Samara regions. Additionally, according to Zelensky, a Su-33 fighter jet and two Mi-8 helicopters were taken out in the Krasnodar and Rostov regions, alongside damage inflicted on an oil facility in Perm.

"Eliminating production and storage sites for drones and FPV UAVs diminishes the Russian military's ability to deploy these assets against Ukraine." Volodymyr Zelensky

The President emphasized the significance of these precision strikes, noting, "Our long-range responses make the war tangible for the aggressor every day." He expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian operatives for their accuracy: "In Taganrog, SBU forces successfully targeted the FPV drone production site, UAV storage facilities, a fuel reservoir, radar stations, and the Pantsir-S2 system."

This operation marks a crucial advance in Ukraine’s efforts to counter Russian armed aggression, aiming to curtail Moscow’s ability to utilize drones on the battlefield.

Such actions underscore the escalating proactive measures taken by Ukrainian forces amid ongoing threats from Russia. By disrupting critical infrastructure related to drone manufacture and storage, Ukraine is delivering a strategic blow that could significantly degrade Russian tactical capabilities. Demonstrating the capacity to strike deep within enemy territory may also influence the broader trajectory of the conflict.

In addition to the successful operation in Taganrog, Ukrainian forces have also targeted critical chemical industry facilities in Russia's Perm and Samara regions. This coordinated effort further exemplifies Ukraine's strategy to undermine Russian military capabilities.
