Ukrainian Security Service Strikes Four Hangars and Russian S-400 and Pantsir-S1 Air Defenses in Crimea

Сили безпеки України знищили важливі військові об’єкти ворога, у тому числі системи ППО в Криму.

Ukrainian Military Operations in Crimea

Operators from the Alpha Special Operations Center of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) carried out strikes against Russian air defense systems near the Kerch Strait and targeted infrastructure at the Saky and Gvardiyske military airfields in temporarily occupied Crimea. These operations destroyed four hangars at the Saky airbase, two S-400 surface-to-air missile systems, and two Pantsir-S1 gun-missile systems near Kerch. This marks the fourth Pantsir-S1 system hit by Alpha units in that area.

The strikes were intended to degrade Russian air capabilities over Crimea. According to the SBU,

“Russian occupiers are losing control of Crimea’s skies. Each destroyed air defense system and each hit military airfield opens new opportunities for further Ukrainian strikes against enemy military infrastructure. The SBU will continue to methodically turn Crimea into a zone of constant losses for the Russian army until it leaves the Ukrainian peninsula.”

Major Power Grid Failure

Separately, during the night of June 24, a large-scale power grid failure occurred in occupied Crimea after a drone attack. This left several cities without electricity, including:

  • Sevastopol
  • Simferopol
  • Yalta
  • Alushta

Reports also indicated damage to infrastructure near Kerch, Feodosia, and Sevastopol, as well as the destruction of a bridge over the North Crimean Canal used to supply Russian forces. These events highlight the escalating situation in the region and the intensification of Ukrainian operations in response to Russian military aggression.

The actions of Ukrainian forces in Crimea reflect growing activity aimed at countering Russian military operations and restoring Ukrainian control over its territory. Destroying air defense systems and military infrastructure is part of a strategy to reduce the enemy’s combat capabilities in the region. Combined with major power outages, these developments pose serious challenges for Russian military leadership and may influence the conflict’s trajectory. Meanwhile, rising tensions indicate a dynamic situation that requires close monitoring by the international community.

As the situation in Crimea intensifies, Ukrainian forces are not only targeting military assets but also critical infrastructure. Following the recent strikes on air defense systems, a drone attack on Crimea's sole gas storage facility underscores the escalating nature of these operations. Such actions are part of a broader strategy to disrupt Russian military capabilities and weaken their hold over the region.
