Three Polish crossing points bordering with the Lviv region have joined the Entry/Exit System (EES). They are 'Kroscienko - Smilnytsia', 'Malhowice - Nyzhankovychi' and 'Budomezh - Hrushev'. According to the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, these points are already functioning under the new system.
In addition, the EES system is fully operational at Polish crossing points 'Medyka - Shehyni', 'Korczowa - Krakowiec' and the railway direction 'Przemyśl - Mostyska'. At other crossing points, the work of this system and its impact on border control procedures is being tested.
Due to the introduction of the new system, the border control procedure may take longer, affecting the speed of processing travelers and potentially leading to increased waiting times.
As of October 12, new rules for crossing external borders for citizens of third countries, including Ukraine, have been implemented in the European Union. This concerns the launch of the Entry/Exit System (EES), which automates the process of capturing travelers' biometric data.
Ukrainian crossing points in the EU have started operating under the new Entry/Exit System (EES). This complicates border control procedures but is a step towards protecting the external borders of the European Union from illegal crossings.
