The average salary in Kyiv as of October 2023 reached 40,738 hryvnias, which is 627 hryvnias more than in September. This growth amounted to 1.5%. Compared to the average salary in Ukraine, which was 26,913 hryvnias in October, Kyiv incomes significantly exceed the national indicators.

The leaders in earnings in the capital turned out to be specialists in the field of information and telecommunications, who earn an average of 76,908 hryvnias. The mining industry took second place with an average salary of 68,510 hryvnias, and in third place is financial and insurance activities with earnings of 60,980 hryvnias.

Industries with high earnings

Among the industries with high earnings, it is also worth noting:

  • Public administration and defense – the average salary is 49,274 hryvnias;
  • Provision of other services – earnings 48,030 hryvnias;
  • Supply of electricity, gas, and steam – 47,746 hryvnias;
  • Manufacturing – 46,870 hryvnias.

Meanwhile, in the education sector, the average salary is 22,513 hryvnias, which is the lowest indicator in Kyiv. The average salary in education across Ukraine is 16,984 hryvnias.

Thus, the labor market in the capital demonstrates significant differences in earnings levels depending on the industry. While some specialties provide high wages, others remain significantly below average indicators.

The growth of the average salary in Kyiv indicates an improvement in the economic situation in the region, as well as an increased demand for highly qualified specialists. It is especially important to pay attention to the sectors that provide the highest incomes, as this may influence the choice of professional activities among young people and specialists. At the same time, the low salary level in the education sector may raise concerns about working conditions and teacher motivation, which, in turn, reflects the state of the education system in the country.
