Strikes by Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces
In a span of just two days, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) successfully disabled 16 energy nodes across occupied southern territories and Crimea. Commander Robert Brovdi confirmed that these coordinated strikes are systematically isolating the Russian military presence on the peninsula. Between July 1 and July 5, USF drones had already shut down 37 power nodes in the temporarily occupied south, with the latest 16 targets hit within a 48-hour window.
Targets and Operational Outcomes
The attacks targeted substations located in Crimea, as well as the Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Specific targets included:
- The 330 kV 'West-Crimea' substation near Karierne,
- The 220 kV 'Bakhchysarai' substation,
- The 150 kV 'Henichesk' substation in Kherson region,
- The 110 kV 'Saky' substation in Crimea.
Several units carried out the operations, including the 414th Brigade 'Madyar's Birds', the 412th Brigade 'Nemesis', the 20th Brigade 'K-2', and the 1st Separate Center of the USF. The 9th Battalion 'Kairos' was responsible for engaging a portion of the Crimean substations.
“The Crimean switch is in the off position”
Robert Brovdi
He added: “We will stand firm. Moscow will fall. And we will feed and rebuild Crimea.” These remarks underscore the resolve of Ukrainian forces in their actions on the peninsula and their determination to regain control of the territory.
These strikes highlight the intensification of Ukrainian efforts to secure strategically vital assets in occupied areas. Disabling power nodes can significantly disrupt the operations of Russian military units in the region, giving Ukrainian forces an edge in subsequent campaigns. Such actions also have the potential to shift the overall dynamics in Crimea, reflecting Ukraine's growing commitment to reclaiming its sovereign land.
The recent strikes by Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces are part of a broader strategy to undermine Russian military capabilities. In a similar vein, recent coordinated attacks have targeted logistics and air defense systems on both sides of the Kerch Bridge, further complicating the situation for occupying forces.
