Unmanned Systems Forces Conduct Major Operation
In a large-scale operation overnight on June 9, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) struck 36 targets across temporarily occupied territories. USF Commander Robert Brovdi (call sign Madyar) announced the results, noting the operation stretched from Mariupol to Crimea. The hit list included 9 electrical substations, 2 radar stations, a command observation post, gas infrastructure, fuel tankers, 8 telecom towers, and a Russian regiment deployment site.
Operation Details
Electrical substations were targeted in cities including Mariupol, Lysychansk, Luhansk, Makiivka, and Sievierodonetsk. Drones also struck a 330 kV substation in Dzhankoi, Crimea. Two P-18 Terek radar stations were destroyed in Zaporizhzhia region, in the villages of Sofiivka and Ivanivka. In Kurakhove, Donetsk region, a deployment site of Russia's 228th Motorized Rifle Regiment came under attack.
The operation was coordinated by the newly established Deep Strike Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces. Robert Brovdi commented:
“Birds in the temporarily occupied territories: lights went out, fuel doesn't feed the donkey, logistics stroke, internet and social media - all superfluous.”He described the operation as
“inflammatory.”
Affected regions include:
- Mariupol
- Lysychansk
- Luhansk
- Makiivka
- Sievierodonetsk
- Crimea (Dzhankoi)
- Zaporizhzhia (Sofiivka, Ivanivka)
- Donetsk region (Kurakhove)
This operation marks an escalation in Ukrainian forces' response to Russian aggression, particularly in occupied areas. Striking critical infrastructure can severely disrupt enemy logistics and supply lines, potentially shifting the conflict's momentum. The results and coordination through the new Deep Strike Center highlight Ukraine's growing effectiveness and adaptation in deploying drone technologies on the battlefield.
As the situation in Crimea intensifies, Ukraine's drone units have also made headlines by successfully targeting Russian air defense systems and naval assets. This coordinated effort underscores the strategic importance of disrupting enemy operations across the region.
