Joint operation of Ukrainian military
In the waters of the Black Sea, the self-elevating drilling rig 'Sivash' located at the Golitsyn gas condensate field has been struck. The attack was carried out by the Naval Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and other units of the Defense Forces. This information was disseminated by the publication 'Khvylia' citing the Ukrainian Navy.
The platform's equipment was used by Russian military personnel to control strike drones, as well as to direct and adjust attacks on southern regions of Ukraine. Additionally, the reconnaissance assets placed there allowed monitoring of the movement of Ukrainian drones and unmanned boats. Elite units of the Russian special forces, equipped with portable missile systems and other weapons for combating Ukrainian drones and unmanned maritime vehicles, were located on 'Sivash'.
Monitoring and counteraction
The Ukrainian fleet emphasized that the expulsion of the Russian fleet from the Black Sea is ongoing. Recall that earlier, the SBU already attacked the base of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, where seven vessels of Russia's shadow fleet were struck in one night.
This operation is yet another confirmation that Kyiv is systematically reducing Moscow's military presence in the Black Sea region, which remains a key area of confrontation.
The destruction of facilities that provided reconnaissance and command for combat operations can significantly weaken Russia's ability to strike Ukrainian territory. Such actions demonstrate the growing capabilities of the Ukrainian army and the significance of controlling the Black Sea waters.
