Attacks on Targets in Occupied Crimea
On the night of July 3, Ukraine’s Defense Forces conducted strikes against targets in occupied Crimea and on the mainland part of Ukraine. The attacks successfully hit:
- a railway bridge over the Krasnohvardiiske Canal;
- an electronic warfare station near Artemivka;
- an enemy electronic intelligence unit in Sevastopol;
- a drone control center near Ukrainska in Donetsk Oblast;
- a Russian command post near Novhorod in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
The General Staff confirmed the destruction of bridges used by occupying forces for military logistics, troop movements, and the transport of weapons and ammunition. Specifically, on June 29, 2026, two spans of a road bridge near Azovske in Zaporizhzhia Oblast were destroyed, and on July 1, 2026, three spans of a road bridge over the Kalka River near Hranitne in Donetsk region were taken out.
Explosions in Belgorod and Other Incidents
On the morning of July 3, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Belgorod, leading to disruptions in electricity and water supply. On July 2, strikes hit the Nizhny Novgorod oil refinery and the Starolikeyevo oil pumping station in Kstovo. Damage assessments are ongoing.
These strikes highlight an escalation in military operations on both sides, potentially signaling an intensification of the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Targeting key infrastructure such as bridges and military command posts is strategically significant for weakening the enemy’s logistical capabilities. Recent events also demonstrate that hostilities are continuing beyond the immediate war zone, suggesting an expansion of tactical measures employed by both parties in the conflict.
The recent strikes by Ukrainian forces not only targeted key infrastructure in Crimea but also reflect a broader strategy aimed at dismantling Russian military capabilities. This follows similar operations in the Donetsk and Moscow regions, where Ukrainian forces have effectively engaged military assets. For a comprehensive overview of these developments and their implications, see how recent actions in the Donetsk and Moscow areas further illustrate the ongoing escalation in the conflict.
