Yevhen Nyshchuk's Son Joins Theatre Production
The seven-year-old son of Yevhen Nyshchuk, the General Director and Artistic Director of the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre, will perform in a play based on Olena Pshenychna's novel. The young boy is set to take on a role in the production 'Where the Sun Sets,' staged on Ukraine's main theatre stage. The performance runs for two hours, with Pshenychna serving as both the author of the original work and the adaptation.
Yevhen Nyshchuk, a celebrated figure in Ukraine's cultural landscape, holds the title of People's Artist of Ukraine and previously served as Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications. Since April 2024, he has led the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre as its General Director and Artistic Director. Nyshchuk has two children from his second marriage to actress Anastasiia Blazhchuk, including his younger son Yevhen. He also has an older son, Oleksa, from his first marriage to Oksana Batko-Nyshchuk, who passed away in October 2016.
Creative Atmosphere of the Performance
Yevhen Nyshchuk Jr. will share the stage with popular film and theatre actors, promising a vibrant production. According to the theatre's website,
“the play brings together different generations of Franko Theatre actors: senior masters, youth, and the middle generation. A wonderful ensemble of the Franko tradition, which is also a Family.”
The theatrical show will run over several months, allowing many audience members to enjoy this artistic project.
Notably, Yevhen Nyshchuk recently gave a heartfelt birthday tribute to legendary Franko Theatre actor Mykola Yakovchenko, highlighting the importance of traditions and connections within the theatre community. Nyshchuk's young daughter has also made her stage debut, continuing the family's theatrical legacy.
The involvement of children from prominent cultural figures in theatre productions underscores the continuation of family traditions and intergenerational bonds in the arts. This also sets an example for aspiring young performers seeking success on stage. Many attendees will have the chance not only to appreciate professional acting but also to witness new faces in Ukrainian theatre, a vital development for the country's performing arts scene.
