Ukrainian Forces Repel Russian Attacks Across Northern Border Regions

Українські військові обороняють свою територію від нападів з північного напрямку.

Frontline Update: Ukraine's Northern Border

Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, has provided an update on the situation along the border in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. While Russian forces continue shelling these border areas, their infantry activity remains limited. All attempted assaults on various fronts have been repelled, resulting in enemy casualties. This northern sector has been a focal point of intense fighting since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.

In Sumy Oblast, the highest enemy activity is concentrated in the Khotin and Yunakivka communities. Despite this, no advance by Russian units in this region has been recorded. In Kharkiv Oblast, intense combat occurred in the direction of Vovchanski Khutory, where an attempted assault was thwarted. Activity by Russian troops in other parts of Kharkiv Oblast has decreased, which is attributed to their significant losses.

Enemy Strikes and Operations

On October 24, the enemy launched 3 missile strikes using 3 missiles. A further 96 airstrikes were recorded, during which 246 guided aerial bombs were dropped. Additionally, the use of 7,880 kamikaze drones was logged, and 3,971 artillery bombardments were carried out against Ukrainian settlements and military positions. Of these bombardments, 89 were conducted using multiple launch rocket systems.

Andrii Demchenko noted that while the enemy remains active, current weather conditions are not favorable for them to expand their attacks along the border. Nevertheless, he urged readiness for any potential developments in the situation.

The ongoing situation on Ukraine's northern border underscores the continuation of hostilities and Russian attempts to intensify bombardments. Ukrainian military forces have demonstrated effectiveness in repelling these attacks, confirming their preparedness to defend the territory. The current adverse weather, which hinders large-scale offensive operations, may prove a decisive factor in the evolving dynamics of the conflict.
