Despite active discussions about the mass attraction of workers from Asia, the number of citizens of India and Bangladesh who are actually working in Ukraine remains relatively small so far. At the same time, businesses are increasingly turning to foreign labor due to the workforce shortage caused by the war. This is reported by Informator.
Workers from India and Bangladesh in Ukraine: official figures
The State Migration Service reported that as of the end of November, 11,346 foreigners and stateless persons with residence permits were officially working in Ukraine. Of these, there were 659 citizens of India, and 4 each from Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The State Employment Center clarified that since the beginning of 2025, up to December 15, work permits have been issued to:

558 citizens of Bangladesh
In total, during this period, 7,033 work permits were issued to foreigners. The most permits were received by citizens of Turkey, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and China. Some workers from India and Bangladesh likely arrived in Ukraine at the end of the year.
Where Indian and Bangladeshi citizens work in Ukraine
Most foreigners were working from Turkey, Uzbekistan, China, Azerbaijan, and Belarus at the end of the year. Among more distant countries were Thailand, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, and Indonesia. Over 200 citizens of Russia are also officially working in Ukraine.

The possibility of attracting citizens from Vietnam for construction work after the war is also being considered. This was previously stated by the Ukrainian ambassador in Vietnam, referencing the successful experience of Romania.
