Russia used the medium-range ballistic missile 'Oreshnik' only once against Ukraine. After the strike on Dnipro in November 2024, there is no confirmation of new launch attempts or further drills and tests of this missile. This was reported to LIGA.net by the spokesman of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, as informed by 'Glavkom'
'There is no confirmed information about other attempts to use the 'Oreshnik' medium-range ballistic missile against Ukraine,' he said.
Yusov also explained that the occupiers used the 'Oreshnik' to strike Dnipro in order to apply pressure on Ukraine and its partners. The GUR believes that the repeated use of such a weapon against Ukraine will depend on the decision of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
He confirmed that the 'Oreshnik' is an experimental version of the RS-26 'Rubezh' intercontinental ballistic missile and was not produced serially.
Recall that the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, stated in an interview with RT that Russians demand strikes on Ukrainian cities with the 'Oreshnik'. According to him, the population of Russia is demanding tougher actions from the Kremlin. Especially such demands have increased after the recent attacks by Ukrainian intelligence on Russian military facilities.
'Of course, after this, citizens demand: we need to strike Kyiv and Lviv with the 'Oreshnik', enough negotiations,' he said, complaining: 'It is very difficult for us in this regard.'
The statement by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine does not confirm new attempts by Russia to use the 'Oreshnik' ballistic missile against the territory of Ukraine after November 2024. Russia used this missile only once, to strike Dnipro, and further actions depend on the decision of Vladimir Putin.
