The transfer of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid has become one of the most expensive financial deals in football history, even despite his status as a free agent. The total value of the French forward's contract until 2029 could exceed 400 million euros. This was reported by Gazeta Express.
How much will Kylian Mbappe earn at Real
According to media reports, Mbappe's five-year contract with the Madrid club includes not only a salary but also substantial bonuses and earnings from image rights.
The financial package consists of:
- a salary of 15–20 million euros per season;
- a signing bonus;
- payments for image rights;
- individual bonuses.
Just the signing bonus, by various estimates, ranges from 125 to 150 million euros. It will be paid in installments throughout the contract period until 2029.
Mbappe received special conditions regarding image rights
One of the main features of the agreement was the player's image rights.
Unlike most players who share advertising revenues with the club, Kylian Mbappe retains a significant portion of the commercial revenues. This substantially increases the total value of the contract.
In Real, they view the Frenchman not just as a football leader, but also as a global marketing project on par with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Real expects to recoup its expenses
The Madrid club expects that the investment in Mbappe will pay off through:
- shirt sales;
- new sponsorship contracts;
- marketing campaigns;
- growth in commercial revenues.
Previously, the French PSG had refused to sell the forward even for hundreds of millions of euros. In 2023, media reports indicated that the club evaluated the player's transfer at 400 million euros.
Despite the fact that Mbappe officially moved to Real without a transfer fee, the total sum of expenses on the player effectively made the deal one of the most expensive in the history of world football.
It should be noted that fans of Real Madrid have actively expressed their discontent regarding Kylian Mbappe, gathering over 1.2 million signatures on a petition demanding his departure from the club.
