Infrastructure Projects at the Border
In Transcarpathia, construction continues on the permanent Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmatiei border crossing with Romania, with completion expected by the end of the year. Additionally, Poland is set to cover the costs of building the M10 highway, which will stretch approximately 80 kilometers. This toll road will connect the Korczowa-Krakovets border crossing with the city of Lviv.
Meanwhile, at the Dorohusk border crossing on the Polish-Ukrainian frontier, a mandatory electronic booking system called e-Queue is being tested from May 11 to May 15. Under this system, truck drivers must reserve their arrival time and slot in advance for border clearance when leaving Poland.
The closure of crossings between Slovakia and Ukraine signals heightened security measures in the region, likely linked to potential threats. This move could significantly impact transportation routes and logistics, in turn affecting economic ties between the two countries. At the same time, active work on infrastructure projects along the Ukrainian-Romanian and Ukrainian-Polish borders reflects efforts to improve crossing conditions and streamline border procedures. These developments may serve as a crucial step toward fostering future cross-border cooperation.
The recent closure of border crossings between Slovakia and Ukraine highlights the growing security measures in the region. Similarly, restrictions at the Solotvyno border crossing have been extended due to ongoing bridge repairs, impacting transportation and logistics further. As these developments unfold, it’s essential to stay informed about the evolving situation at various border points.
