Ukrainian 'Ghosts' Unit Strikes Crimea, Crippling Air Defenses, Fleet, and Communications

«Український підрозділ 'Привиди' завдає удару по Криму, підірвавши систему протиповітряної оборони, флот та комунікації»

Operation Conducted by the 'Ghosts' Special Unit

In the first two weeks of March, the 'Ghosts' special forces unit of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) executed a successful mission against Russian military infrastructure in temporarily occupied Crimea. The operation targeted critical enemy assets used for combat operations, including air defense, naval, and communication systems. This strike is part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign to degrade Russian military capabilities on the peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.

Targets Destroyed

  • The advanced 'Valdai' radar station, designed to detect and counter small drones.
  • A radio-electronic warfare jamming station.
  • A communications relay used to coordinate 'Geran' and 'Gerbera' type strike drones.
  • A 'GLONASS' satellite navigation system complex.

During the operation, two Project 02510 'BK-16' landing craft were also struck and destroyed with their crews on board. The press service of Ukraine's GUR officially confirmed these events, stating:

These actions signal an intensification of Ukrainian efforts to reclaim occupied territories. The destruction of key elements of Russian military infrastructure in Crimea represents a significant step in Ukraine's campaign to regain control over its occupied lands. Such operations not only degrade the enemy's potential but also bolster the morale of Ukrainian troops and civilians, potentially influencing the broader course of the conflict by demonstrating Ukraine's resolve to resist aggression.

These recent actions are part of a broader strategy to weaken Russian military strength in the region.
