Ukraine Weather Forecast: June 24 – July 2
A significant temperature rise is expected across most of Ukraine between June 24 and July 2, with intense heat forecast for many regions. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, warming will begin on June 24, with air temperatures ranging from +18 to +27 °C during the week. Starting Monday, daytime highs may climb above +30 °C.
From June 28 through July 2, daytime temperatures across Ukraine are predicted to reach +26 to +33 °C. In Transcarpathia, the mercury could locally hit +36 °C. On June 29, Kyiv is forecast to see temperatures up to +35 °C, with overnight lows between +15 and +22 °C. Meteofor’s outlook for June 24 indicates temperatures of +19 to +26 °C, while the weekend will bring readings from +17 to +28 °C.
Peak Heat Days and Potential Impacts
Among various weather services, Sinoptik identifies Sunday as the week’s hottest day, with temperatures ranging from +21 °C at night to +31 °C. The META forecast similarly expects maximum temperatures around +30 °C.
This abnormal heatwave sweeping Europe, which has already caused 18 fatalities in France, is raising concerns in Ukraine as well.
Notably, on June 22 in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, a 50-year-old man collapsed amid 30-degree heat—underscoring the need for caution during high temperatures.
Rising temperatures in Ukraine, set against the backdrop of a broader European heat anomaly, could have serious health consequences, especially for vulnerable groups like the elderly and those with chronic conditions. Following medical advice to prevent heatstroke and dehydration is crucial, particularly as such weather events may become more frequent due to climate change.
As Ukraine braces for rising temperatures, it’s essential to consider how similar heat events are impacting neighboring regions. In contrast to the expected +36°C in parts of Ukraine, Western Europe is facing extreme heatwaves exceeding +40°C, raising alarms about public health and safety. Understanding these broader patterns can help Ukrainians prepare for the upcoming heat and its potential effects.
