According to Главком: Much of Western Europe, particularly France and Spain, is set to face extreme heat over the coming week, with temperatures climbing to and beyond +40°C. According to forecaster Nataliia Didenko, nearly all European nations-except those in Scandinavia-will experience these sweltering conditions. She advises anyone currently outside Ukraine or planning travel abroad to take precautions against excessive heat exposure.

On June 22, temperatures in Ukraine are expected to range between +25°C and +29°C, with the hottest spots under direct sunlight reaching up to +30°C. Kyiv will also see highs near +30°C, accompanied by brief rain showers and thunderstorms. Short-lived storms and rain are forecast for western and northern regions, as well as Cherkasy and Poltava oblasts. By evening, thunderstorms may develop in the Kharkiv area, while the rest of Ukraine is expected to remain mostly dry.

Climate scientists predict that by the end of the 21st century, summer will be 42 days longer on average. This finding, published in the journal Environmental Research Letters, warns of risks to global markets-particularly for crops like grapes, coffee, and cocoa.

Nataliia Didenko noted: 'Keep in mind that during such heat, even a light rain can quickly turn into a short but intense downpour. Once again, let’s appreciate our wonderful Ukrainian climate-the fierce Western heatwave is not threatening us. At least, not yet.'
