NATO and Ukraine Reform Defense Procurement: What Will Change for the Army

Спільні зусилля України та НАТО у модернізації оборонних закупівель: нові можливості для армії.

The cooperation between Ukraine and NATO in the field of defense procurement is currently one of the main issues facing our country on the path to Euro-Atlantic integration. This is not just a matter of honor, but also a matter of compliance with NATO standards. This was emphasized by the acting head of the Integrity Policy Formation Department in the sphere of security and defense of the NAPC, Marta Ivashkiv, speaking at a seminar on defense procurement and wartime economics.

Representatives from NSPA, the Norwegian Defence Procurement Agency, and the Ukrainian delegation met in Poland at the Joint Analysis, Preparation, and Education Center (JATEC) in Bydgoszcz to discuss the most effective mechanisms for defense procurement in wartime and to discuss further steps in this direction.

'Ukrainian procurement systems are quickly adapting to current challenges during the war. However, to ensure transparency and efficiency at the international level and better utilize existing resources, a systematic analysis is needed.' - Marta Ivashkiv

Marta Ivashkiv also emphasized the need to analyze corruption risks in the field of defense procurement. The agency representative told international partners about the importance of implementing tools to minimize identified risks, demonstrating the example of a study on corruption risks in the procurement process of unmanned systems and EW assets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
