Bounty Targets Senior Iranian Officials

The U.S. State Department has announced rewards of up to $10 million for information concerning Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, and other high-ranking officials. A list of ten wanted individuals includes Ali Larijani, the former parliament speaker and secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council. This move is part of a long-standing U.S. pressure campaign against the Iranian leadership.

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth claimed that Supreme Leader Khamenei has been injured. Concurrently, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that Iran is preparing to announce its surrender. The State Department emphasized that these individuals command and control various units of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which it accuses of planning, organizing, and carrying out terrorist acts worldwide.

Heightening Tensions in a Protracted Conflict

The announcement of these bounties signals a further escalation in the years-long, high-stakes confrontation between the United States and Iran. Analysts suggest the U.S. administration's actions may indicate a strategic shift in its approach to countering Iran's military and alleged terrorist activities. The situation remains volatile, and Washington's next steps could significantly impact regional security and international diplomacy in the Middle East.
