The administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to stop cooperating with European countries in the fight against disinformation spread by Russia, China, and Iran. According to 'Khvylia', this decision was made against the backdrop of an official announcement from the US State Department. The refusal concerns the termination of memoranda of understanding signed during Joe Biden's administration with about 22 countries in Europe and Africa.
This joint initiative is part of the work of the Global Engagement Center (GEC), which specializes in countering disinformation abroad.
According to former GEC director James Rubin, the refusal to engage is a strategic blunder in the information war. He emphasized that information threats are a reality, and the development of artificial intelligence only exacerbates the associated risks.
Trump's administration has ceased cooperation with Europe in combating disinformation spread by countries such as Russia, China, and Iran. The USA has terminated memoranda of understanding with 22 countries in Europe and Africa signed during Biden's administration. Experts emphasize that the refusal of such cooperation may undermine efforts in the fight against disinformation and the information war as a whole.
