The Death of Cuban Citizens Due to US Airstrikes

The Cuban government reported the death of 32 Cuban citizens as a result of airstrikes carried out by the USA on Venezuela. These strikes were part of an operation during which, according to US President Donald Trump, the President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro was detained. The total number of casualties from the attack in Venezuela is at least 40, with other estimates suggesting more than 80.

Cuba's Response and International Reaction

In response to these events, Cuba declared a two-day mourning on January 5th and 6th. Trump confirmed the deaths of the Cubans and noted that Cuba had always been financially dependent on Venezuela. During comments, he also stated that:

“On the other side, there were many deaths. On our side, there were no deaths.” - Donald Trump

The US Secretary of State added that the Cubans fully controlled Maduro's internal security apparatus.

Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel characterized Washington's actions as 'state terrorism'. Trump, commenting on the situation, noted that Maduro along with his wife was captured and removed from the country. The situation in the region remains tense, and the ongoing events continue to attract international attention.

These events signal an escalation of the conflict between the USA and Venezuela, which has significant implications for Cuba, historically supportive of Venezuela. Given the statements from leaders of both countries, the situation may affect political and economic relations in the region and may trigger new waves of protests and international reactions. The future development of events will require careful observation by the global community, as these actions may have long-term consequences for stability in Latin America.
