Comment by Ruslan Stefanchuk on the New Year address of the Speaker of the Czech Republic
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk commented on the New Year address of the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Tomio Okamura, calling his statements an example of ignorance and manipulation. Okamura criticized the Ukrainian leadership, particularly regarding arms supplies to Ukraine, which prompted a reaction from the Ukrainian politician.
In his speech, Okamura stated that state money should go to support pensioners, the disabled, and families with children, emphasizing that the Ukrainian government is not fulfilling its obligations. He also characterized the Ukrainian government, referring to it as 'Zelensky's junta.' These statements outraged people in Ukraine, as, according to Stefanchuk, they not only offend Ukrainians but also harm the Czech Republic and its citizens who support dignity and justice on the side of Ukraine.
Reaction of Ukrainian Officials
Vasyl Zvarych, Ukraine's ambassador to the Czech Republic, also reacted to Okamura's words, noting that this is the Speaker's personal position, likely shaped by Russian propaganda. Stefanchuk emphasized that such statements only deepen the rift between the countries and reflect a certain ignorance in matters of international politics.
This situation underscores the importance of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Czech Republic, especially against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Ukraine. Mutual support and understanding between countries can be crucial for establishing stability in the region.
