Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court has ordered the forfeiture of assets belonging to Kyiv City Council deputy Ihor Halaychuk and his wife Maria, deeming them unjustified and directing their transfer to state ownership. Between 2021 and 2022, the couple acquired seven land plots near Kyiv and constructed two houses, with a combined value of 9.7 million hryvnias (about $355,000). This property exceeded their verified legal income by 7.7 million hryvnias (roughly $280,000), indicating a significant discrepancy.
Court proceedings suggest that the deputy and his wife's assets stem from illicit activities. As part of the ruling, three land plots were seized, along with the value of other assets and approximately 10 million hryvnias (around $365,000) in proceeds from the sale of some real estate. After selling part of the property, the couple earned an additional 10 million hryvnias in income, raising further questions about the legality of these financial gains.

Separately, the High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced an official from the Krasyliv Aggregate Plant to nine years in prison for accepting an illegal benefit. The official received 1,990,840 hryvnias (about $73,000) from a businessperson, promising to sign supply contracts for blank kits, avoid creating obstacles, ensure payment, and facilitate cooperation. This case underscores ongoing anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine and the importance of legal compliance in financial matters involving public officials.
