A soldier in Lviv was sentenced to a year of probation for refusing to follow a combat order. The man refused to return to the combat zone after three days of rest, receiving a verdict from the Lychakiv District Court, as reported by «Glavkom» referencing tsn.ua.
Court materials showed that on September 17, 2025, the soldier received orders to head to the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, but he refused to comply. In his defense, he explained that he had recently returned from a combat mission and needed rest. He also pointed out that he has a minor child and a wife who is expecting an extraordinary event.
“He requests to consider that since March 2022, he has been part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to voluntary mobilization, and at the moment he is responsible for a minor child, and his wife is pregnant,” - states the court materials.
He also stated that after a previous combat mission in the Pokrovsk direction, where he had to assist an injured comrade, he felt psychologically vulnerable. This situation affected his psyche and his decision to refuse a new call to the front line.
Other important events in military life
Recently, Ukraine extradited a Russian soldier to Lithuania for torture and war crimes.
In addition, military investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia detained Private Oleksiy Kostrikin, who is accused of murdering the owner of a house and raping his wife. A criminal case has been initiated against him.
The verdict in the case of the soldier who refused to proceed to the next combat line shows that military leadership is tightening requirements for loyalty and readiness to perform duties. Despite this, military service is always associated with great challenges that require servicemen not only physical but also psychological resilience.
