Verdict of the Lysyanka District Court
The Lysyanka District Court of the Cherkasy region issued a verdict against a man who refused mobilization, justifying his position by caring for his elderly father and an ongoing court process. The court found these arguments insufficient for exemption from military duty and imposed a punishment of three years of imprisonment.
The verdict was delivered in June 2025. The resident of Lysyanka, who was the subject of the trial, underwent a military medical commission and was deemed fit for service. At the time of mobilization, there was another proceeding against the man in court under part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which could also have influenced the court's decision.
Active Actions of Law Enforcement
Moreover, law enforcement authorities discovered and blocked three new schemes for evading mobilization, indicating active measures by the state to ensure military conscription. The verdict of the Lysyanka court is part of an overall trend towards tightening responsibility for evasion of military service in Ukraine.
This verdict underscores the seriousness with which the Ukrainian authorities approach mobilization issues, especially in wartime conditions.
Active actions of law enforcement agencies to detect and block schemes of evasion reflect the growing attention to meeting the military needs of the state. Such court decisions can have a significant impact on citizens' behavior regarding the fulfillment of military duty, as well as on the overall situation in the country during the conflict.
