The head of the Department at the Lviv University of Internal Affairs, Iryna Gazdaika-Vasylyshyn, dreams of becoming a judge of the appellate court. She has already successfully passed the examination before the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCJ). However, during the declaration of her assets, the origin of a significant sum of money raised certain doubts among Ukrainians.

Investigations by Bihus.Info revealed that Iryna Gazdaika-Vasylyshyn declared receiving an inheritance of $26,000 from her grandmother. She claims that she found this money among the belongings of her deceased grandmother, who, according to her, received it from relatives in Australia.

Explanation Regarding the Origin of Funds

Iryna Gazdaika-Vasylyshyn explained that her grandmother partially received the money from the sale of an inherited house, which was also passed down to her. However, during the interview with the HQCJ representative, she presented arguments to support her statements.

The sum of $26,000 was inherited from my grandmother. My paternal grandmother passed away unexpectedly in March 2002. When my mother and I were sorting through her belongings, we found this substantial amount of money. At first, we were puzzled and could not understand where it came from, but later remembered that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, our relatives from Australia visited my grandmother several times.

However, the commission representative denied the existence of such an inheritance, claiming that the declared property assets were a deviation from reality.

Seeking Explanations

Iryna Gazdaika-Vasylyshyn attempted to explain the origin of the received funds by presenting testimonies and facts that could confirm her words. However, she was unable to provide sufficient evidence to support her position, as the interview results showed.
