Horrible tragedy from drone strikes
On October 1, a farewell ceremony was held in the village of Chernichchyna in the Sumy region for the Lesnichenko family who died as a result of a nighttime strike by Russian drones on residential buildings on September 30. Among the dead are four-year-old Denys, six-year-old Yehor, their 26-year-old mother Alona Lesnichenko (Shikula), who was expecting twins, and 35-year-old father Oleksandr Lesnichenko, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referencing the page 'They were killed by Russia.'
The newspaper 'Peremoga' from the Krasnopillia community reported that Oleksandr Lesnichenko was a hard-working and determined man. He was born in the village of Turya, received education at Krasnopill PTU, and worked in construction. In 2017, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, following in the footsteps of his father, Stanislav Lesnichenko, who also served to defend the country. Oleksandr returned to service in July 2022.
“Alona Shikula, born in 1999, was a kind, bright, and tender girl. Due to constant enemy shelling, the family moved from Krasnopillia to Chernichchyna, hoping to find more peace here,” says Alona's teacher. Together with her husband, they raised two sons in love and care. However, it was here that they perished from the Russian attack.
The incident that occurred in the village of Chernichchyna is a testament to the incredible tragedy caused by the war in Eastern Ukraine. Russian drones do not only take the lives of servicemen but also of peaceful residents, as if this mad war knows no bounds or morals. The Lesnichenko family became a victim of this senseless violent aggression, leaving behind only memories and pain.
