Sumy Appellate Court Confirms Sentence
The Sumy Appellate Court has upheld the conviction of former officials from the Okhtyrka Bread Products Plant, a branch of a state enterprise, for misappropriating sunflower grain valued at 3.2 million Ukrainian hryvnias. The ruling concerns O. Krasnokutskyi, the ex-acting director of the branch, and G. Krylova, the ex-acting head of a structural department. Both were found guilty of crimes punishable by imprisonment for 7 and 8 years respectively, asset confiscation, and a three-year ban on holding administrative positions.
Case Details
The initial verdict was delivered by the Bilopillya District Court on September 30, 2025. O. Krasnokutskyi was convicted under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 5 of Article 191;
- Part 2 of Article 28;
- Part 1 of Article 366;
and sentenced to 8 years in prison. G. Krylova was found guilty under:
- Part 5 of Article 27;
- Part 5 of Article 191;
and received a 7-year prison term. Both individuals had all their property confiscated, except for their residences. Additionally, they are prohibited from holding managerial or administrative roles in any business entity for three years.
The sunflower grain was illegally removed from the branch's premises without the owner's knowledge or consent and transferred to third parties free of charge. The appellate court’s decision takes effect immediately upon announcement. The defendants may appeal this ruling to the Supreme Court within three months through cassation proceedings.
