Clashes Erupt in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka

On November 2, 2026, violent confrontations broke out near a military facility in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka involving 49-year-old blogger Valentyna Moloda. She impersonated an emergency medical worker amid tensions sparked by false claims that around 40 people were being unlawfully detained in a private home's basement. This misinformation ignited widespread protests, riots, and gunfire.

Authorities received calls from alleged private paramedics reporting they were barred from entering the premises to provide aid. Moloda, who claimed to be the owner of a medical company and a military blogger, was connected to the plastic and aesthetic surgery clinic "Moloda-ya" and held a press card issued by the NGO "Plich-o-plich." However, Mikhailo Furman, the legitimate owner of the "Med-Prestige" brand, denied her association, clarifying that the clinic ceased operations in 2023 and its vehicles had been sold off.

"The new owners were supposed to remove all branding, and Moloda has no right to represent the brand," Furman emphasized.

Aftermath and Official Response

The protests outside the building escalated to include:

  • storming of gates;
  • damage to police vehicles;
  • rocks being thrown;
  • deployment of smoke grenades;
  • destruction of a National Guard bus.

Four soldiers, who were reported to have abandoned their posts, sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital. Rumors claiming one suffered a broken spine were disproved, as the wounded soldiers managed to walk to the medical vehicle on their own.

Gunshots were heard late into the evening, with clashes continuing overnight during a Russian airstrike on the Kyiv region. Kirill Budanov, head of the Presidential Office, arrived at the scene to engage with protesters and assisted in safely escorting a 14-year-old teenager home. Officials confirmed that the site was a temporary base for military unit 3121, housing approximately 25–30 National Guard servicemen.

The events in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka highlight the dangerous consequences that false information can trigger, leading to mass unrest and violence. This case underscores the critical role of media and social networks in shaping public perception and the urgent need for fact-checking before dissemination. The incident also reflects ongoing tensions in the region, where military conflicts and civil disturbances intersect, presenting complex challenges for local authorities and law enforcement agencies.

The recent unrest in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka has prompted significant attention from local authorities. In light of the escalating violence, Budanov has outlined strategies to mitigate future incidents and restore order in the region. Understanding these measures is crucial for grasping the broader implications of the ongoing situation.
