Clashes Erupt in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, Kyiv Region
According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Disturbances broke out in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, a village in the Kyiv region, raising serious concerns among Ukrainian authorities. Kyrylo Budanov, head of the President’s Office, revealed that coordinated plans are underway with security forces to address the incident and prevent similar events from recurring. The conflict centered around a building serving as a temporary base for military unit 3121 of the Azov Corps.
Late on November 2, confrontations escalated into a large-scale brawl involving a crowd, damage to property, and the involvement of officials including Member of Parliament Anna Skorokhod. The crowd demanded the release of up to 20 detainees held inside the building. Some participants later sought medical attention in Kyiv hospitals before providing statements to the National Police. Among those injured were four soldiers who had left their unit without authorization; they sustained injuries during the clashes and were hospitalized for examination.
Government Response and Aftermath
The National Guard leadership, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Authorities and authorized bodies are thoroughly examining all aspects to establish an accurate and comprehensive account of events, ensuring accountability and preventing future occurrences,” Budanov emphasized.
During the unrest, the crowd threw stones at the building’s windows, set off smoke grenades and firecrackers, damaged a brick wall, smashed windows, and attempted to overturn a bus. Police vehicles were also vandalized and flipped over. Around 10:30 PM, a major fight broke out with sounds resembling gunfire. High-ranking officials, including General Pivnenko, Kyrylo Budanov, and representatives from the Office of the Military Ombudsman, arrived on site.
Denys Prokopenko, commander of the Azov Corps, condemned the events as a provocation.
“Individuals with no connection to defending the country, who neither serve in the military nor support the Defense Forces, are engaging in sabotage behind the lines, discrediting Ukrainian soldiers and creating a narrative beneficial to Russia,” he stated.
The National Guard has pledged a formal internal inquiry and warned that anyone found responsible for unlawful violent acts within the military compound will face appropriate consequences, according to the Azov Corps.
These clashes highlight the increasing social tensions within Ukraine amid ongoing Russian military aggression.
