Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported on the update regarding the elimination of the consequences of the explosion on the military train in the Kyiv region as of 15:00. The incident occurred overnight on September 14 on the railway section Boyarka-Vasylkiv due to a detonation in a train car.
According to the head of the government, there are no casualties. The State Emergency Service and Ukrzaliznytsia are working together with the involvement of people and equipment for the prompt elimination of the consequences and restoration of traffic by the evening peak period of passenger transport.
Svyrydenko stated that all elements of the damaged rolling stock have already been completely removed. Explosives experts additionally checked the cleared areas, while preparations are ongoing for laying new tracks to replace the damaged ones.
The train that was present at the time of the detonation was initially delayed for 4 hours, but as of now, the delay has been reduced to one hour. Ukrzaliznytsia coordinated accelerated control with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the Polish border service to maintain connectivity.
Currently, 28 trains are following altered routes with delays ranging from 1.5 to 3 hours. The movement of suburban trains to Fastiv is limited, while 'shuttle' trains have been launched on the Kyiv-Boyarka section to the nearest point. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration provided additional bus services on these routes.
The investigation into the reasons for the incident is ongoing. More details will be provided later by law enforcement agencies, the Prime Minister noted.
As a result of the explosion on the military train in the Kyiv region, no one was injured, but there were certain delays and changes in train movements. The elimination of the consequences is proceeding promptly, and the connection between cities is rapidly being restored.
