A representative of the US administration informed Reuters that the US and France are discussing possible locations for a meeting between the presidents of the US, Ukraine, and Russia.
After Trump announced the preparation for such a summit, proposals for various locations for the meeting began to emerge. A government official even mentioned the possibility of holding the summit in Hungary, although the Kremlin has not yet agreed to this idea. The President of France expressed a preference for Geneva as a neutral location for negotiations between Zelensky and Putin.
'This is more than a hypothesis, it is even a collective will... This will be a neutral country, so possibly Switzerland, I advocate for Geneva, or another country,' said the French Leader.
Earlier, a video conference of the 'coalition of the resolute' took place, during which the possibility of holding a meeting in Europe was already discussed. Recall that in March 2023, the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Putin's arrest, creating a risk of his detention in any participating country. Hungary also announced its withdrawal from the ICC in April 2025.
The US and France are discussing the venue for a possible meeting between Trump, Zelensky, and Putin. Location options include Hungary and Geneva. Additionally, Hungary's entry in 2025 and the possible arrest of Putin may influence the decision on where to hold the summit.
