The US president calls for swift action
US President Donald Trump urged Ukraine to take swift action in negotiations set to take place in Florida. He emphasized the importance of urgent steps from the Ukrainian side in light of recent losses, which, according to him, amounted to 27,000 soldiers in the past month. The meeting, set to take place in Miami this weekend, is a continuation of consultations that have occurred over the past week.
Trump noted that 90% of issues had already been resolved in the recent Berlin negotiations, where on December 14-15, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly expressed his willingness for a compromise for the first time. Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev will lead the Russian delegation, while special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will represent the US. Additionally, NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov will meet separately with the Americans.
“I hope Ukraine will act quickly because Russia is already there,” said Trump, expressing satisfaction with the results of the previous negotiations.
The resumption of peace talks in Florida raises hopes for possible further steps towards conflict resolution.
Prospects of the meeting
This meeting in Florida could become a significant milestone in diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The urgency of Trump's calls underscores the seriousness of the situation, given the recent losses on both sides. Hopes for compromise and further negotiations could open new opportunities for stabilizing the region and restoring peace.
