Tourists from Kyiv got lost on Hoverla
Two tourists from Kyiv got stuck on Hoverla during their descent from the mountain. Mountain rescuers have already set out to search for them, reported the State Emergency Service.
A young couple, a 23-year-old man and his 22-year-old girlfriend, lost their way down due to deteriorating weather conditions.
Rescuers maintained contact with the tourists and quickly located them, providing assistance in the mountainous area. The State Emergency Service emphasized that weather conditions in the mountains can change suddenly, making the risk of traveling at night very high.
'Climbing mountains at night is very dangerous, as there is a risk of getting lost or getting injured', - the rescuers noted.
To ensure safety in the mountains, the State Emergency Service recommends installing the 'Rescue in the Mountains' mobile application, which will allow you to quickly send your coordinates in case of an emergency and receive useful safety tips.
It is reminded that two villages in Transcarpathia have been included in the global list of 'Best Tourist Villages' - Kolochava and Synevyrska Poliana. Moreover, the air temperature in the Carpathians has dropped to -3°C, and at the peaks of some mountains, there is up to 80 cm of snow.
The incident involving the tourists from Kyiv on Hoverla once again highlights the importance of caution and preparation before traveling in the mountains, as well as the use of modern technologies for safe travel in mountainous regions.
