Large-scale blackout in Belgorod: what is happening?

In the Russian Belgorod, a large-scale blackout occurred on the evening of November 8. At least 20 thousand Russians are left without power and are complaining of an alleged missile strike. It is noted that a missile strike was allegedly carried out on the thermal power plant 'Luch' in the city. The attack damaged the gas turbines at the CHP, causing them to stop working.

The CHP 'Luch' supplies electricity to Belgorod itself and nearby settlements. Currently, part of the city is without power. The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, stated that more than 20 thousand Russians were left in the dark. He also reported that Russian air defense intercepted aerial targets, and the situation was caused by debris.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukrainian forces are striking the Belgorod region in response to constant attacks from Russia. This is not the first case of attacks on Belgorod. Residents of the city constantly experience power supply issues and other troubles due to the conflict in the region.

As a result of the large-scale blackout in Belgorod, more than 20 thousand residents are left without electricity due to a possible missile strike on the local thermal power plant. This has resulted from the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which affects the lives of people in the border region.
