Near Brovary, during a patrol, law enforcement officers discovered a large python lying on the ground among fallen leaves. The exotic snake was simply lying in the forest, showing no signs of aggression, but noticeably weakened. This was reported by the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group, which arrived at the scene and took the animal away.
After examination, veterinarians established that the python is alive and requires treatment. He is currently under the watch of specialists.
According to the rescuers' preliminary assumptions, the reptile was previously a pet. When it grew and could no longer fit in the terrarium, the owners likely decided to get rid of it by simply releasing it into the wild.
Experts from the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group emphasize that such actions are not only cruelty but also a danger to people. Releasing exotic animals into the wild is strictly prohibited. They are not adapted to our climate and may die from cold, starvation, or stress.
Specialists remind several important rules for exotic pet owners:
-
do not release the animal into the wild, even 'for freedom';
-
if unable to keep it, contact shelters or animal rescuers;
-
do not buy reptiles without experience and responsible conditions for care.
«If the owner can no longer take care of the pet, he should contact specialized services or shelters. We are always ready to accept such animals and find them proper conditions», - explained the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group.
Zoological specialists are already looking for a safe place for the python - in a zoo or terrarium, where it can live in comfortable conditions and not pose a threat to others.
Earlier, we reported that in Lviv region, an 8-year-old child was hospitalized due to a snake bite.
