The State Security Service of Georgia (SDB) announced the arrest of two Ukrainians who were found with 2.4 kg of hexogen explosives. They crossed the border in a Mercedes-Benz truck with Ukrainian license plates.

One of the detainees is the truck driver, Ukrainian M.S., and the other is D.Z., who already retrieved the explosives from storage in Georgia. During searches, various items were found, including mobile phones, computers, money, SIM cards, and cocaine. Both have been charged under the articles of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

The SDB says that the investigation needs to determine the purpose of the explosives - checking versions about a possible terrorist act in Georgia or the use of the country for transit.

It is worth noting that the visa-free stay of Ukrainians in Georgia was reduced from three years to one year by government resolution №255, adopted by Irakli Kobakhidze in April of this year.
