Debris from Russian Missile Found in Kyiv Following Attacks on Monastery and Film Studio

Скиди з російських ракет виявлені в Києві після ударів по монастирю та кіностудії.

Massive Strike Hits Kyiv on June 15

On June 15, a large-scale attack struck Kyiv, leaving debris from a Russian missile on Stepan Bandera Avenue near the Pochaina metro station. The fragment landed on the roadway, yet traffic along the avenue was not halted despite the serious nature of the incident.

The assault caused damage to the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, setting the roof of the Dormition Cathedral ablaze. Sacred items and liturgical objects from the monastery were evacuated to prevent their destruction. In the Pechersk district, a missile struck a five-story residential building, while in the Obolon district, another hit a residential building between the third and fourth floors, causing structural damage. A nine-story residential building in the Solomyansky district was also hit.

Fire Breaks Out at National Film Studio

Additionally, the attack sparked a fire at the National Film Studio named after Alexander Dovzhenko. The strike destroyed Ukraine’s largest costume collection, which housed around one hundred thousand costumes and three million clothing items. Social media reports, such as 'Pochaina and a piece of a missile on Bandera Avenue,' confirmed the severity of the event.

The June 15 attack underscores the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, where the impacts of military conflict continue to disrupt daily life. Strikes on significant cultural and historical landmarks like the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra highlight not only the military threat but also the cultural peril facing the nation. The loss of the costume collection at the National Film Studio further illustrates how the conflict erodes national heritage and culture. As attacks intensify, the readiness of civil defense and emergency response services remains critical.

In response to the recent attacks, emergency aid centers have been established throughout the city to support affected residents. These centers aim to provide essential assistance as the situation escalates, highlighting the urgent need for community resilience in the face of ongoing threats.
