Офіційна особа Києва затримана за вимагання грошей за оренду приміщення комунальної власності.

Detention of Officials for Corruption in Kyiv

A municipal enterprise official and his accomplice have been detained in Kyiv for demanding $3,000 for the rental of a municipal building. The detention occurred during the transfer of part of the sum, indicating active measures by law enforcement in the fight against corruption.

An investigation has been launched under part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years. During the investigation, other cases of corruption in the capital were also uncovered. In particular, an entrepreneur was detained for demanding $6,000 for permits for placing advertisements. The monthly payment for these permits amounted to 17,000 hryvnias.

Systemic Corruption Problems

In addition, the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office detained a KCSA official, the head of the tourism and promotions department, Marina Radova, as well as the director of the Bessarabian market, Mykola Kovalchuk, for demanding $25,000. These cases highlight the systemic problem of corruption in local government bodies and municipal enterprises in Kyiv.

The detention of officials and entrepreneurs for demanding bribes and engaging in corrupt activities reflects the efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating corruption at the local level. These events may lead to increased oversight of the activities of municipal enterprises and government bodies, as well as to a growing public awareness of the need to fight corruption in Ukraine. It is important that these actions become the foundation for further reforms aimed at reducing corruption risks in public institutions.
