In the Kyiv Digital application, a new service has appeared – the Preferential Transport Card. It allows passengers entitled to free travel to use public transport even without a Kyiv resident card. This new tool will also be useful for beneficiaries from other cities who use the capital's transport. This is reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
The service was created for people who have not issued a Kyiv resident card or cannot obtain one. At the same time, Kyiv resident cardholders will continue to use it for fare validation without changes.
Preferential Transport Card in Kyiv
With a pension certificate or veteran's ID, the preferential card allows you to create QR-tickets for free rides on ground public transport. Persons with disabilities of groups I–II, as well as veterans, can use it both on surface transport and in the metro.
To issue a preferential card, you need to go to the 'Transport Card' section in the Kyiv Digital application, select 'Preferential Card' and click 'Get Card'. The eligibility for the benefit is confirmed by providing a digital copy of the certificate via Diia. After verification, the card will automatically appear in the application.
How to use the preferential ride
To travel, you need to open the preferential card, create a QR-ticket, and present it to the validator. Successful validation is confirmed by a sound signal and a green indicator. During the inspection, the passenger is required to carry a paper certificate along with the validated QR-ticket.
If the digital certificate does not appear in Diia, users are advised to contact the district social protection office to update the data in the registers.
Earlier, we reported that the Department of Information and Communication Technologies of the Kyiv City State Administration expanded the functionality of the 'Kyiv Digital' application by integrating the possibility to submit requests to the 'Kyiv City Contact Center' 1551 directly from the service map.
