The first case of HIV-2 recorded in China: what is known about the rare strain

Перший зафіксований випадок ВІЛ-2 у Китаї: інформація про рідкісний штам.

In Sichuan province, the rare strain of the HIV-2 virus, which is virtually unknown in the country, has been detected for the first time. This information was published in the Chinese Journal of AIDS & STD as a result of a study. A 67-year-old woman from a county in the Meishan urban district was diagnosed with this virus in January after a positive HIV test.

According to the publication, 'HIV is divided into two types – HIV-1 and HIV-2. The former is the most widespread in the world and has a higher pathogenicity, while HIV-2 is transmitted less effectively and progresses more slowly.'

Scientists from UKHSA have issued a warning about the detection in Britain of two species of mosquitoes that can spread three deadly tropical diseases. Additionally, research has shown that physical exercise can aid the recovery of the immune system in people after post-COVID syndrome.

Doctor Taras Zhiravecky confirmed the spread of a new infection in Ukraine, the symptoms of which are similar to allergies but are not COVID-19 or influenza. The disease begins with a slight increase in temperature, nasal congestion, and coughing.

The appearance of the rare HIV-2 strain in China is an unprecedented fact that requires the attention of the medical community and further investigation of the situation. At the same time, other studies reveal interesting facts about the transmission of diseases through mosquitoes and the impact of physical exercise on the human immune system, which is beneficial for public health.
