Confrontation Erupts in Lviv's Sykhiv District
On July 8, a tense standoff unfolded in the Sykhiv district of Lviv between personnel from the local Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC) and area residents. The incident was sparked when TCC officers detained two young men for mobilization purposes. One of those taken into custody is reportedly 20 years old. One individual was transported to the district TCC office, while the other remained inside the official vehicle at the scene.
A crowd of several hundred people gathered at the location, voicing their anger over the detentions. During the confrontation, the TCC's service vehicle sustained significant damage: its tires were slashed, the bumper was wrecked, and the car was ultimately overturned.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi stated that he is investigating all aspects of the incident.
“I am currently looking into all the circumstances surrounding the situation in Sykhiv. I will provide an update as soon as I have complete and verified information. In the meantime, I urge everyone to remain calm, be wise, and remember who our true enemy is,”Sadovyi remarked.
As of the time of publication, no official statements have been issued by the Lviv Regional TCC, the National Police, or other law enforcement agencies. Separately, singer Kamaliya has appealed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to review TCC operations. Her call to action follows an incident where her cousin was taken to the TCC for a second time, despite having a documented disability. It is worth noting that one of Kamaliya's brothers was killed on the front lines, another is listed as missing in action, and a third currently serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
