The Verkhovna Rada has adopted Resolution No. 13369, which amends the rules for the design of passports of the 1994 model. Now entries in the documents will be made only in the state language, without duplicating in Russian, as reported by 'Glavcom'.
According to the explanatory note, the changes bring the legislation into compliance with the law 'On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language'. The authors of the resolution emphasize the importance of aligning the legislation with this law to ensure the functioning of the Ukrainian language and strengthen national identity.
'In the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the state language has become one of the main symbols of unity, resilience, and the struggle of our people for victory, independence, and a dignified future. Aligning the legislation with the Law of Ukraine 'On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language' is an important step to ensure the functioning of the Ukrainian language and strengthen national identity.'
