In the first days of 2026, the capital metro will temporarily change the intervals of train movement on all three lines. The adjustment of the schedule is related to the expected decrease in passenger flow during the New Year holidays. This was reported by the Kyiv metro. According to Kyiv City State Administration.
Metro movement in Kyiv on January 1 and 2, 2026
On January 1, during the morning rush hour, trains will run with an interval of 3–4 minutes. After it ends and throughout the day, the waiting time will increase to about 5–6 minutes.
On January 2, the metro will operate more steadily: trains on all lines will run with an interval of 3–4 minutes throughout the day, including during the morning and evening peak hours.
Metro schedule in Kyiv on the first weekends of January
By January 3 and 4, the capital metro will return to the usual weekend schedules. The intervals between trains on the lines will be 6–7 minutes.
The metro administration notes that temporary changes are being implemented to optimize the transport operation based on the real number of passengers during the holiday period. After the weekends, the metro will operate according to the standard schedule.
It should be noted that Kyiv is preparing for possible blackouts and the stoppage of electric transport, including the metro. The city authorities are considering the option of compensating transport with buses, but experts point to serious limitations of such a scenario.
