Ukraine's initiative to exclude Russia from the United Nations is legitimate.
International law provides for such a possibility, said Polish Foreign Ministry representative Lukasz Jasina in an interview with Polish Radio.
He recalled that there has been a discussion for decades about the need to reform the UN and the role of the Security Council and the veto power of its permanent members.

'We should remember how Russia occupied this permanent seat in the UN Security Council in violation of international law after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and we should start a debate on this forum about how Russia violates international law and is an aggressor committing war crimes,' Jasina said.
The beginning of such a discussion would be a certain success. Especially since there are places in the world where Russian propaganda works well. People there do not believe that Russia is an aggressor.
'Those who are not sure about this need to be convinced, and such a discussion can help,' he added.
Ukraine called on UN member states to deprive the aggressor state, the Russian Federation, of its status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Also to exclude Russia from the UN. The statement was published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They noted that the Russian Federation has never gone through a lawful procedure of obtaining membership and occupies the Soviet Union's seat in the UN Security Council illegally.
